Rise Cafe: West Bay, Dorset

It's rare that you will find two foodie posts back to back, however I am a firm believer in sharing places with good food and good vibes, so it simply couldn't wait. Although the Rise Cafe and Bar isn't particularly hard to find, being just a "hop skip and a jump over the bridge" at West Bay (if you hit the parade of beach huts you've gone too far!) it is what I would call a hidden gem. Tucked away on it's own little island lined with festoon lights and brightly coloured flags, Rise is a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of beach traffic, offering a range of food and drinks to suit your mood- from coffees and cocktails, to breakfasts and burgers, with locally sourced ingredients, it is the perfect spot no matter what time of day. And as somebody who has become a regular visitor, I say it with the utmost confidence...

The Early Bird: Plymouth

Over the past few months I have spent copious weekends travelling the country, seeking out the best breakfast spot... from budget to spenny, I've tried more variations of the classic British fry up and eggs Benedict than I can count, and if I'm being perfectly honest I wouldn't change it for the world. There is no denying that I am what you would call a "foodie" with the majority of my day being spent thinking about what I'm going to eat next- I wake up in the morning and the first thing that I think about is food and I would be lying if I said that I didn't fall asleep thinking about what I'm going to have for breakfast tomorrow... I'm a girl that likes to eat, what can I say?

Exploring Paris: MOKUS PIZZA

Bonjour! Hello! If you don't follow me on social media you may not know that a couple of weeks back I took a trip to Paris (a much needed holiday, if you will) and long story short, I have fallen in love. The instagram-able buildings, the buzzing atmosphere, the people, but most importantly the food...

A Day Date: The Stables

"The Stables was established in 2007 when Richard and Nikki Cooper quit the music industry and London and decided to move their life and children to the deepest, darkest Dorset. They had a vision of creating a unique environment to enjoy the finest local produce at decent prices" Spoiler: THEY SMASHED IT! Last week I headed to The Stables in Plymouth to sample some of the newest additions to their Spring Menu (YAY); for the majority of the trip the weather was to die for which made a birthday afternoon by the water a dream! For any pizza, pie or cider lovers, I assure you The Stables is the place to be.

Homemade Veggie Cous Cous

At the start of January I promised myself that if I was going to do nothing else this year, I was going to up my cooking game. Now I know that this doesn't look wholly appetising (it's just a pile of vegetables, right!?) but trust me, it tastes SO damn good. As many of you willknow I have been working with The Co-Operative over the past 6 months or so, and when they got in touch regarding their latest launch I was over the moon.. Simple recipes with Sorted Food, yes please! The two companies joined forces to create a website called Now Cook It in attempt to target the cooking skills gap present between 16-25 year olds (trust me, it's real.. my cooking abilities are less than satisfactory!) and I couldn't wait to get on board.

The Alternative Mince Pie

I'm not going to beat around the bush here, I hate mince pies. No matter how much I want to like them, to really get into the festive spirit, just I can't. Now don't get me wrong, the pastry is delicious (especially when it's warm and all of the juices have soaked into it!) but sadly that's as far as my love goes.. so, I decided that I would make some festive jam tarts instead. I opted for a very simple recipe that takes next to no time to prepare and a mere 12-15 minutes to cook; they are the perfect winter warmer to whip up pre-gathering, for mince pie haters alike! They are a little rustic looking, but hey, that's what Christmas is about right?

Halloween with the Co-Operative

Now who else is super excited for halloween!? Aside from Christmas, I have no doubt in saying that it is by far my favourite holiday; here in England it is far less popular than in countries like America, but that doesn't mean that I don't like to go all out.. Whether it's getting dressed up, decorating my home, or making spooky treats for my family and friends, there's nothing that I love more than getting in the spirit of things! This year, I've joined forces with the Co-Op to share with you some of my favourite, affordable snacks for Hallows Eve; using just a handful of their products, you can make them too!

Simple Banana Bread

Okay, I'm going to put my hands up and say that I don't really like banana bread, in fact, I don't really like bananas that much either. When it comes to fruit, my ratio of do like to don't like is very meager, thus leading me to the banana; the versatile fruit that can be included in near enough anything- pancakes, porridge, bread, you name it. I was sat at home this morning (yes, the first day off in a long while!) when suddenly the baking bug took over. Now by no means do I claim to be any good when it comes to baking, or any kind of cooking come to think of it, but banana bread is a fail safe option. It is quite literally as simple as throwing all of the ingredients in a bowl, mixing them up and ta-dah, you're already half way there.

Gluten Free Goodness: All Things Nutribrex

You know the saying, breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Well it is! I used to be a serial cereal-dodger (sorry, it had to be done!) but these days I live by mantra that you need a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day. Without breakfast, the chances are you'll find me hunched over sporting a hangry face by 10am, in serious need of some grub.. but the sad fact of the matter is that we don't all have time to whip up an insta-worthy batch of poached eggs on toast before dashing off to work, so a tasty alternative is needed.
