The Diaries of a Busty Girl: Swimwear

Holidays are supposed to be fun, right? Which is why I am forever asking myself why shopping for swimwear is such a chore.. With such an array of pretty patterns to choose from, it should be an enjoyable experience picking out the colour and style that suits me best, but sadly this just isn't the case.

If there's something that I dislike more than shopping for bras, it's shopping for bikinis- and trust me, bra shopping is at the bottom of my 'fun things to do on a Saturday afternoon' list. It's hard enough finding some form of underwear to flatter my body shape, let alone having to consider the fact that my swimwear of choice shall be seen by fellow holiday makers! Over the past few months I have grown to be much more confident in my own skin, enjoying the changes to my body that I have seen due to regular exercise and eating well, however getting my kit off in front of strangers is something that I just can't imagine becoming comfortable with *shudder*.

Being someone of the bustier equation, with a DD chest, finding something that both looks nice and offers an acceptable amount of support is near impossible. I have spent countless holidays wearing ill-fitting swimwear, leaving me hiding under a baggy tee feeling less than body confident.. trust me it isn't fun, nobody should be made to feel ashamed of what they've got! Over the years I have tried bikinis from New Look, Topshop and even Accessorise (a last minute airport dash!), but none of them have done the trick. This year, despite there being very little likelihood of an exotic break, I have been very impressed with the likes of ASOS and Marks and Spencer, catering specifically for bustier girls; both of their DD+ ranges come in a variety of patters and styles, meaning that the only difficulty is deciding which to settle for- how cute is this Baywatch-esque swimming cozzy!?

My ASOS basket is overflowing with choices, meaning that the only option is to book myself a spa break if nothing else! I am over the moon to be able to build up a collection of pretty pieces for the sunnier months, and can't wait to put them to the test! Do you have a favourite swimwear brand?

  1. I have the same problem. Always have to get my swimwear at Victoria's secret because all the other normal and cute brands never fit. I like VS's selection but you probably know how expensive they can be, definitely if you want more than 1 bikini.. Never thought of checking ASOS for swimwear though, I will be checking them out!! Thank you!!
