What sort of person would I be if I didn't compare myself to other people? Male, female, old or young, we all do it. At 19 I'm still unsure as to where I want to be in 5 years time (although people keep asking and telling me that I should!); I spend hours scrolling through blogs and Instagram accounts thinking how lucky I would be if I 'had that job' or 'looked like her', but at the end of the day, I am me. It's easy to get wrapped up in the struggles of every day life, but don't lose sight of what is important; be true to yourself.
You can change how you act, how you dress, heck you can even change your name, but you will always be you, too.
Sometimes I think that I'm getting too wrapped up in the constant world of social media and glossy magazines, but other times, what if I'm not quite as good as them? What if compared to such 'wonders', I am a mere smudge of foundation on the collar of life? I think that sometimes we forget just how important individuality is. We should remember that there is a significant different between comparison and inspiration- it is perfectly normal to be inspired by the things that we see and the people that we meet, but constantly comparing yourself to them, that is not okay. I don't know about you, but comparing myself to those who are seen as 'better' makes me feel inadequate, and just a little bit down in the dumps. Then the more comparisons that are made, the worse I feel.
Those who have achieved greatness haven't done it because they are any better than you; different people excel at different things- I certainly couldn't twerk like Miley or strut like Beyoncé! We are all just as great as one another.
In the upcoming months I am going to learn to love myself again. It's time for some TLC!

Such a heart warming post to read, glad someone hasn't shyed away from telling the truth about their feelings :-) It's great if you do know what you want to do after education and it's also great if you don't- it's not a race and everyone can take their own time, right! I agree with the comparison and inspiration concept...I've stopped myself from doing it as much but I know a lot of people that don't know the fine liner between the two.
