3 Trends That I Wanted To Love (But Couldn't)

Having spent the past year absorbing content dismissing the concept of 'fast fashion' I have tried my hardest to spend on things that suit my personal style, rather than what is deemed to be on trend. But as is life, working in a job centred around fashion and the latest trends means that it is sometimes a little too hard to resist.

It is very rare that you will find a style post appear, not through want of trying, merely that I can't for the life of me find the right words (and don't get me started on fashion photography- boo) I have made countless failed attempts to narrow down a 'fashion faves' post for Spring, Summer and now Autumn, so decided that a better approach may be to document the things that I have purchased, but hated. If you've heard of the 'anti-haul' then you will have a vague understanding of the concept already, but the difference is that I spent my hard earned dolla' on these pieces and almost instantly regretted it. If you take only one thing away from this post, it is that you should NEVER take the tags off until you are 100% certain that baby is gonna stay.

1. Loafers. Yep, the granny-shoe. I hoped that these babies would be the saviour that my weary feet were looking for, but alas they looked downright ridiculous and hurt like a bitch. Thankfully I chose to dip my toes (literally) into the trend and picked up a bargain pair in the ASOS sale, however if I had made a silly decision and splurged on the oh-so popular Gucci pair, I would be crying right now.

2. Low-rise jeans. These bad boys take me back to the better days, when I spent my Saturday afternoon's wandering the high street with my bezzie mate and a Shakeaway in tow. Bliss. Unfortunately I just couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to constantly pull them up, and lets not forget the not so attractive muffin top too. It is safe to say that these babies went straight back in the bag and got shipped right back where they came from (thankfully, I kept the tags)

3. Bomber jackets. This one is a little bit of an exaggeration, because when I first purchased my little green bomber I was SO in love.. but as the months have gone on I would go as far as saying that I can't stand the sight of it. Is it comfortable? Yes. But is it flattering? Definitely not. I look like a pumpkin that is yet to ripen, and I feel about as attractive as an ~insert disgusting word of your choice~

I hope you enjoyed this rare fashion-related post, I got a real kick out of writing it! This girl just loves to complain, what can I say?

  1. hahaha, I can't stand loafers either! low-rise jeans were my JAM back in middle and high school, and everyone loved them too. my ass can barely fit in them anymore, and i don't even want to think about sitting down, lol. seems like we pretty much agree on all of these, cause i LOVE how bomber jackets look when they're open - but closed I feel like a puffed up penguin, haha.
