Books & Beauty Galore

I've decided to take a break from the typical 'monthly favourites' posts at the moment, as I'm getting a little tired of seeing them myself; I have however put together something of a similar nature, but not quite as intense! As many of you know, I am trying to give myself of a mind and body overhaul over the summer. This has involved things such as upping my exercise regime, eating foods that are a lot more nourishing, and indulging in a heck of a lot of reading- I'm trying to have a technological detox too! After my first few weeks of making small changes, I am feeling a heck of a lot better about myself; I'm enjoying taking some time out and getting my affairs in order.. long may it continue!

I wrote something a little while back about my favourite reading material, and as much as I would love to dedicate a handful of posts about the things that I've enjoyed casting my eyes over (and perhaps including a few 'reading lists' too!) for now I shall continue to slip in a book here and there. After receiving several recommendations, I picked up Everything ,Everything by Nicola Yoon. I now understand why people rate this book so highly, as it is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and filled with relatable mother and daughter moments; like many other people, I devoured this book in a matter of days! Unlike Everything, Everything the second book that I want to share with you is How to be Parisian Wherever You Are. I'm sure that you will have seen this featured in my blog photos over the past year (it's just so aesthetically pleasing!), however I have never taken the time to enjoy it.

Although this isn't a favourites post, I feel the need to share with you some health and beauty bits that I have found myself reaching for of late. Now if you follow me on Twitter you would have seen that the lovely Em Sheldon picked me as one of her competition winners, resulting in a bundle of summer goodies being delivered to my door- what a gem! I had never tried Mac Cosmetics before (I know, I know) but since this particular delivery arrived, I haven't left the house without the Creme Cup lipstick being tucked into a handbag or coat pocket. The creamy texture is perfect for my flake-prone lips, and the colour pay off is incredible! A real summer beauty staple. Up until recently I hadn't used a pair of eyelash curlers, but honestly, I don't know how I lived without them!? Sadly I am not in the financial position to get my eyelashes lifted professionally, so this is a super affordable alternative- I picked up a cheap pair that seem to do the trick, however I am sure I shall invest in something better at a later date!

This last thing may seem a little strange, but I've been switching up what I would call my 'hygiene essentials' over the past few months, and I was super impressed with the Soft and Gentle 48 Hour Protection deodorant in jasmine and coco milk. The smell is wonderfully fresh, and it really does last for hours on end; I haven't tested out the 48 hour  claim as I shower at least once a day, but from what I've experienced, it is very long-lasting! The range comes in around 6 different scents, each with an equally pretty colour scheme.

Oh, and did you notice that I snuck in the Bourjois Poudre De Riz De Java? Yes, I still love it!
