“You can have more
than one home. You can carry your roots with you, and decide where they grow.”
– Henning Mankell
I know it may seem as though I have been talking about getting my own place for an absolute age, but as 2017 progresses and I am watching more and more people embarking on new journeys, I am feeling more inspired than ever. For a long time I have felt suffocated in the small space that I call my own, and although I struggle to comprehend the thought of no longer living in the home that I grew up in, with the people that shaped me into the person that I am today, there is no denying that the time is right.
As much as it is about personal space, over the past half-decade
I feel as though I have grown in ways that can only be demonstrated by the
decisions that I make; whether it is the way that I dress, the colour of my
hair, or the way that I decorate my space, I do me.
There’s no denying that something I take great pride in is aesthetics…
as much as I love my family home, myself and my parents definitely don’t see
eye to eye when it comes to interiors. With hope that the search for a place of
my own is just around the corner, I have put together a collection of my fave
homey bits from a site
that houses originality and plenty of snazz (which is exactly what I’m looking for!)
1. Sphere Vase 2. Palm Trees Print 3. Namaste Pillow 4. Pineapple Tumbler 5. Glass Coasters 6. Pedestal Lamp 7. Himalayan Tequila Glasses 8. Nesting Baskets 9. Serving Set 10. Blah Throw
When putting together my collection of 'picks' I asked Jack what he would like
to see featured in our future home and from copper decorations to wicker baskets, I was pleasantly surprised by what he selected. Uncommon Goods
have a LOT of gentleman friendly goodies, so if you’re on the hunt for a little
something special for your fella then you won’t be disappointed!
As I grow older I find that I am willing to spend more, on sometimes
smaller yet better crafted goods. Whether it’s a handbag or a fresh set of bed
sheets (which yes, I did treat myself to earlier this week) I want something
that is going to serve me well. Uncommon Goods is an online marketplace that connects the
creators of sustainable, handmade goods with consumers like me- and as the name
suggests, they are one of a kind. Whilst shopping for myself, it became
apparent that they really do have something for everyone;
new homeowners, couples,
even those with a new babba on the way.
With this in mind, not only will I be placing an ever so
slightly ‘wishful thinking’ homeware order, but I will also be picking up a few
bits for birthdays and anniversaries that are happening over the next couple of
months. Oh and did I mention that their international shipping is totally hassle free?

haha me and my parents definitely don't see eye to eye on interiors either, my room is totally grey and white whereas the rest of our house is a total mismatch. that's probably the one thing i'm most excited about moving out...everything being a beautifl shade of grey haha
ReplyDeletealso one of my favourite quotes is 'home isn't where you are, it's who you're with'. random...but thought i'd share as this post reminded me of it.
