How to Balance Blogging with Studying

If you are both a blogger, and a student like myself, then this will be a reoccurring question in your mind; I am constantly asking myself how I can balance the two, without falling out of love with one. Now obviously, assignments and university deadlines should be placed a little higher on the importance ladder than blogging (it's your future, right?), but if you love writing and sharing your thoughts with others as much as I do, then that can be easier said than done. I have compiled by top tips for staying on track, and finding balance between studying and the social world!

Plan, Plan, Plan!
I love planning; using little notes and diaries to lay out my days, weeks, even months ahead.. Just like anything else, if you want to do more than one thing, you need to make time for others. At the start of almost every day, I write a list of things that I need to do, as well as a time frame in which I need to get it done; granted I would happily spend hours on a blog post, opposed to a mere 40 minutes ploughing through an assignment, but sadly that's not going to give me the best result. It's all about balance.

Clearly Separate the Two
When you have a brainwave midway through writing an assignment, it can be ever so tempting to open up a new tab in your browser and start righting a post (we've all been there!), however it's important that when this happens you simply say no. I try to keep a notebook to hand all of the time, so when I get the itch, I can scribble down some notes and save them for a blogging sesh later!

Schedule Your Posts
Like I said, if I could I would spend hours a day writing posts, but sometimes life just won't allow it. If I know that I have a busy week ahead, then I find that the best thing to do is to pre-write a couple of posts, and create a stack of photos, so that they're ready to appear on my blog throughout the week, hassle free. A benefit of doing this is that not only will you have more free time for studying, but your readers won't know any different (until you write 'that' lengthy post about how crazy the past month has been!).

Take a Break
Now this is one of the most important ones for me; it can be so easy to get bogged down with the pressure of keeping your blog up to date, but you need to remember that unless it's your day job, it should be enjoyable! I used to get stressed out if I didn't post at least twice a week, but I've come to terms with the fact that sometimes life just gets in the way.. Whether it's studying, or things just keep popping up unexpectedly, don't beat yourself up- after all, your readers will understand, and will probably be dying to find out what exciting things you've been getting up to while you were away!

Since Christmas my university work load has been a heck of a lot more intense than beforehand, and I'm working hard to find balance with blogging. I have a lot of posts planned for the upcoming weeks, and would love to hear if there's anything that you would like to see- product reviews, lifestyle posts, you tell me!

    1. If I could choose between the two I would choose blogging, but sadly sometimes uni has to come first! I hope that you can get back to loving both, whilst finding balance X

  4. I struggle with this so much! I'm not one to schedule because I never stick to it anyway but I always find myself wanting to join in on Twitter chats, email bloggers & brands back, create new content etc. etc. but I just don't have the time to do so when assignment week is coming up :( For me, it's more that when I have to put blogging to the side, I just get antsy to pick it up again but totally agree Uni is the priority! Great post and hope your work is going well and not stressing you out too much x
